About ENCA

The European Network of Heads of Nature Conservation Agencies (ENCA) is an informal network, which fosters the exchange of information and collaboration amongst its partners.

It identifies future challenges and offers information and advice to decision-makers in the fields of nature conservation and landscape protection. ENCA brings together expertise in scientific evidence gathering and analysis, knowledge of practical implementation, and experience in administration and policy advice related to biodiversity, landscape protection and ecosystem goods and services.

The network consists of European nature conservation agencies, or similar bodies that have nature conservation within their broader portfolio. This includes the conservation of biodiversity, landscape and geodiversity. Members have significant executive or advisory tasks to fulfil for their governments and are therefore not regarded as NGOs.
